This Wucai ‘Fish’ Jar and Cover reflects the vibrant energy and auspicious symbolism of the Jiajing imperial workshops. The jar is decorated with lively carp swimming amid lotus and aquatic plants, symbolizing abundance, perseverance, and transformation. The five-color (Wucai) palette—combining underglazed cobalt blue with overglazed red, green, yellow, and turquoise enamels—embodies the Ming era’s pursuit of bold contrast and harmonious beauty.
Each jar is handcrafted using authentic imperial kiln methods, painted with natural mineral pigments, and fired up to 1280 °C in kiln to be finished products, keeping forever like a diamond. Under Jiajing’s reign, imperial artisans perfected the fusion of Chinese symbolism and Western color technology, giving these porcelains their distinctive brilliance and vitality.
This masterpiece represents the imperial wish for wealth, success, and flourishing life, making it one of the most celebrated designs in Ming porcelain history.

About the Item
Description
The globular jar is stoutly potted and painted around the sides with a continuous scene of eight golden carp depicted in different positions as they swim amidst floating aquatic plants above a band of lotus plants in shades of green and yellow and further water weeds in underglaze blue. The carp are set between a band of overlapping leaf tips in underglaze blue below and a band of petals lappets in yellow, iron-red and blue with blue outlines at the shoulder.

These handcrafted masterpieces are not allowed for return, except for quality issues, damage, or wrong items upon the receipt of items.
The returned/exchanged product must be in its original condition, unused and in its original packaging. Special order items cannot be returned.
As soon as you return your item to us and it's received into our system, we will expeditiously send a refund request to your bank. Please note that while the funds are instantly deducted from our account, some banks may take 5-7 business days to process and post these refunds to your account.
