Ming Dynasty Hongwu Emperor (1368–1398) official kiln porcelain vase.
This Underglaze Copper-Red ‘Peony’ Yuhuchunping Vase represents one of the earliest triumphs of the Ming imperial kilns. The design features lush peony blossoms, symbolizing prosperity, honor, and regal beauty, rendered in a glowing copper-red tone beneath a transparent glaze.

Each vase is handcrafted using authentic imperial kiln techniques, painted with natural mineral pigments, and fired up to 1280 °C in kiln to be finished products, keeping forever like a diamond. Achieving the perfect crimson hue under glaze required exceptional skill—an innovation pioneered during the Hongwu reign and perfected through careful control of firing temperature and oxygen flow.

The harmonious proportions of the Yuhuchunping (pear-shaped) form, combined with the brilliance of underglaze copper-red, reflect both imperial strength and aesthetic purity—a true testament to the founding emperor’s vision of renewal and order.
