Yuan Dynasty (1279–1368) official kiln porcelain vase. This Blue and White ‘Lotus amid Waves’ Vase with Ruyi-shaped Panels represents the pinnacle of Yuan imperial porcelain artistry. The design features lotus blossoms rising elegantly from swirling waves, enclosed within Ruyi-shaped panels, symbolizing purity, prosperity, and divine harmony.
Executed in deep underglazed cobalt blue, the composition reveals the fluid brushwork and rhythmic balance characteristic of early Yuan craftsmanship. Each vase is handcrafted using authentic imperial kiln methods, painted with natural mineral pigments, and fired up to 1280 °C in kiln to be finished products, keeping forever like a diamond.
The combination of Chinese symbolic motifs and Western-Asian cobalt pigment innovation marks this period as the foundation of the blue-and-white porcelain tradition. Description
The pear shaped vase painted with flowers and ruyi heads between bands of lappets in cobalt blue. The slender trumpet neck is decorated with upright plantain leaves , and the foot with further decorative borders.
