Qing Dynasty Yongzheng Emperor (1723–1735) official kiln porcelain vase. This Imperial Blue-and-White Zun Vase is exquisitely painted with the auspicious theme “San Yang Kai Tai” — three rams heralding the arrival of spring and prosperity. The motif symbolizes the renewal of fortune and harmony in both nature and life, a reflection of the emperor’s vision of enlightened rule.

Each piece is handcrafted using traditional imperial kiln techniques, painted with natural cobalt mineral pigments, and fired up to 1280 °C in kiln to be finished products, keeping forever like a diamond. The luminous glaze and balanced composition embody the serene sophistication that defined the Yongzheng court’s porcelain artistry.

About the Item

Description

The vase has an globular body encircled just below the top of the high splayed foot with a single bow-string band and around the body with three double bow-string bands, and has three ram's- head masks cast representing the rebus "san yang kai tai" in high relief that project from the edge of the canted shoulder. The body is covered with composite floral scrolls below bands of lotus scroll, peony flower scroll and key chain on the canted shoulder and neck, all between bands of crashing waves at the mouth rim and foot.
