About the Item
Description
The vase has a slightly flared mouth, a straight neck, a swelling body and a foot ring. Flowering and fruiting branches of peach, pomegranate, and finger citron (foshou) alternating on the body.
The famille-rose porcelains of the Qianlong reign were richly ornamented with auspicious natural objects, commonly done in refined brushwork, distinctive arrangement and abundance. The ‘three abundances’ (sanduo) pattern is a traditional Chinese auspicious pattern, the peach means "longevity", the pomegranate means "many children, the "fo" and "fu" are similar in pinyin, so the finger citron (foshou) means many blessings, which together means "many lives, many children and many blessings".
