Ming Dynasty Chenghua Emperor (1465 – 1487) official kiln porcelain cup.
This renowned Doucai (Contrasting Colors) ‘Chicken’ Cup is among the most celebrated masterpieces of Ming imperial porcelain. The scene depicts a rooster, hen, and chicks beneath flowering peonies — a motif symbolizing family harmony, prosperity, and the flourishing of generations.

Executed with the Doucai technique, its outlines are painted in underglazed cobalt blue and filled with vivid overglazed enamels in red, green, yellow, and turquoise, achieving both delicacy and luminosity. Each cup is handcrafted using authentic imperial kiln techniques, painted with natural mineral pigments, and fired up to 1280 °C in kiln to be finished products, keeping forever like a diamond.

During Chenghua’s reign, this porcelain type epitomized refinement—uniting Chinese symbolic storytelling with early Western color technology—and became a timeless emblem of imperial artistry, affection, and lineage.
