This ‘Birds and Flowers’ in Alum Red Long-Necked Vase embodies the refined artistry and symbolic depth of the Kangxi imperial kilns. The design depicts songbirds perched among flowering branches, symbolizing peace, love, and harmony with nature. Executed in the rare and luminous alum red (iron oxide) pigment beneath a transparent glaze, the composition combines warmth, grace, and scholarly restraint — qualities celebrated in Kangxi’s golden porcelain age.
Each vase is handcrafted using authentic imperial kiln methods, painted with natural mineral pigments, and fired up to 1280 °C in kiln to be finished products, keeping forever like a diamond. During Kangxi’s reign, artisans perfected the use of alum red underglaze painting, blending classical Chinese brushwork with Western color and light techniques to achieve remarkable tonal richness and naturalistic depth.
